DocTool

A single JavaScript snippet that adds accessibility icons next to every PDF link on your government website. When OctoComply has created an accessible HTML version of a document, constituents see a green icon and can view it instantly. When no accessible version exists yet, they see a request form — and every request is logged as part of your documented, auditable compliance effort.

  • Installs in one script tag — zero dependencies, works on any CMS
  • Automatically detects same-origin PDF links on every page
  • Green icon = accessible version available, opens instantly
  • Blue icon = no version yet, opens accommodation request form
  • Customizable: 3 icon styles, light/dark themes, brand colors
  • WCAG 2.1 AA compliant itself — keyboard accessible, screen reader tested
  • Pre-deadline archive classification for documents before April 24, 2026

Automated WCAG 2.1 AA Scanning

Our headless browser renders each page exactly as a user would see it, then runs the full axe-core rule set against WCAG 2.1 Level AA — the standard mandated by the DOJ Title II final rule. Every violation is categorized by criterion (1.1.1 Non-text Content, 1.3.1 Info and Relationships, etc.), severity (critical → minor), and type (template, content, or document). PDFs are checked separately for tags, reading order, heading structure, and alt text.

  • Headless Chromium renders JS/SPA sites — no static HTML shortcuts
  • Full axe-core WCAG 2.1 AA rule coverage
  • PDF accessibility audit: tags, reading order, alt text, headings
  • Compliance score 0–100 weighted by severity
  • Per-page and per-issue breakdown
  • Template vs. content issue classification — fixes in the right place
  • Automated weekly monitoring with email alerts
  • Page history trend — see if scores are improving

AI-Assisted Document Remediation

Most government accessibility backlogs are document backlogs. Manual PDF remediation costs $7–$11 per page with 10-day turnaround. OctoComply's AI pipeline — powered by Claude — generates genuinely accessible versions of PDF documents automatically, with two tiers depending on document complexity.

  • Tier 1 — Technical compliance: Claude extracts content, WeasyPrint generates accessible PDF
  • Tier 2 — Genuine accessibility: complex tables restructured into narrative + simplified tables
  • OCR for scanned documents via Azure Document Intelligence
  • PAC 2024 validation on every Tier 1 PDF
  • axe-core validation (zero violations required) on every Tier 2 HTML
  • Confidence-tiered publishing: auto-publish, publish with notice, or hold for review
  • Every document gets a permanent short URL and QR code footer at intake
  • Accessibility validation report issued per document
